Back in Business

Ok, so I am back!

Literally just after the last post, the sledging fun turned into a bit of a nightmare, which resulted in me breaking my leg and being laid up for about 6 weeks - and then half term struck and I had to be Mum again! All be it a hobbling one!

Now though, the leg is free and getting easier, the crutches are gone, I can drive, the monster is back at school and I have finally made it back into my studio to continue painting! What a relief!

I'll be keeping this updated with new works and involvements with projects and hopefully a new date will be released for 'In Black and White' the exhibition that had to be postponed because of poorliness.

Hoping all is well in the real world!

In white and White

Walking through the snow and my tracks are already covered!

The, once was blue car, is going nowhere.

Everything surrounding me is quiet and peaceful and coated in a crisp layer of white. The boiler hums and the kettle clicks.

The christmas tree stands in the garden and glistens with the remnants of the silver decoration amidst the snow.

Christmas is over.

The sledge stands in the hall way, still damp from its last go.

The fun will begin again soon!

In Black and White

I should be looking forward to starting the year afresh, having rid myself of all personal posessions and art work, but the interpretation and response to the project Everything and Nothing means that I am still in a position of owning pretty much everything I started out with on October 1st.

The project collapsed in only the second week.

I asked particpants to provide me with a name, a postage address and confirmation of being over the age of 18.

The response was phenomenal and I got far more than I could ever have imagined, from the emails I recieved.

Peoples confessions, stories, grievances, words of luck and inspiration and of course a torrent of abuse!

'Get a haircut!' 'Get a life!' 'Get a fucking proper job!'

And now for me to use some of the words from Trainspotting -

'Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career, Choose a family.'

I skipped the fucking big television and a lot of the other shit!

'Choose your future. Choose Life.'

So the project didn't go as I originally hoped it would, but it has opened my eyes and inpsired me further.

Press, WWW. Words, Translations, People, Reactions, and the rest.

I choose life!

I have a job! I have a career! I have a family!

And I even have a new haircut!

'In Black and White' is my first solo exhibition of 2010, being held in January at Banks Mill Studios, Derby.
